Increased innovation, along with substantial growth in the Transplant Diagnostics business, has resulted in a need for additional formal Project Management support for new product development. The individual in this role will be a leader in ensuring that Project Teams achieve goals and objectives set by the Senior Leadership Team. In addition, he/she will be responsible for identifying and mitigating risks, helping guide and mentor staff in project leadership, and communicating as needed on any issues and challenges that constitute obstacles to success.

The Sr. Project Manager, R&D will also make substantial contributions to setting strategic direction for new product development and will be expected to partner with all Departments in ensuring that the organization achieves its goals. Performance of this individual’s responsibilities will require good knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality systems required for in vitro diagnostic (IVD) products.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility for leadership and management of Project Teams developing new products

  • Matrix responsibility for working with Heads of all Functional groups to ensure effective deployment of resources for new product development

  • Significant contribution to the development of strategy for the organization and the implementation of strategy by Project Teams

  • Partnership in the development of processes and tools for project management and product development

  • Ensure projects adhere to design controls and applicable standards

  • Ability to effectively report project status, risk, changes to scope and provide resolution to issues as they occur

  • Creating, maintaining and organizing necessary documentation and records; responsible for the quality of the project deliverables and documentation.

  • Provide planning support to project teams, to ensure that projects are well-planned and have a high probability of being executed on-schedule and within scope

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology or related discipline

  • 3 years of experience in academic research of biotech industry, preferably including familiarity with medical device production and QA/Regulatory standards

  • 5 years of experience defining and managing projects in a collaborative manner across multiple functions

  • Significant experience with laboratory techniques. Individuals with experience in software or bioinformatics will also be considered

  • Strong problem solving and scientific skills and ability to work independently

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment

  • Strong project management skills with focus on study deliverables, oversight, quality and timelines

  • Ability to manage complexity; flexible and able to work well in a changing environment

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including strong presentation skills

  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality results

  • Collaboration and conflict resolution skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in the sciences or an M.B.A.

  • IVD Industry experience with proven history of delivering commercially successful results and working under Design Controls

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
