The Life Science Solutions Group (LSG) of Thermo Fisher Scientific has just launched a leading edge financial reporting framework; this new framework leverages Oracle's Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) Suite and IBM's Cognos Business Intelligence platform.

Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Suite (EPM) includes:

  • Oracle Enterprise Performance & Budgeting Cloud Service (EPBCS); formerly known as Hyperion Planning

  • Oracle Data Relationship Management (DRM) & Oracle Data Relationship Governance (DRG)

  • Oracle Profitability & Cost Management Cloud Service (PCMCS)

  • Oracle Financial Data Quality Management Enterprise Edition (FDMEE)

  • Oracle Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)

  • Oracle Essbase

Applicants should have a demonstrated interest and/or hands-on experience with one or more of the applications listed above. This role continuously interfaces with colleagues in Finance, Accounting, & IT and often serves as a bridge between functional and technical teams; strong inter-personal skills are critical to success.

This role sits at the nexus of IT, Finance & Accounting. On-balance, the career track associated with this role is more technical than it is financial. Ideal candidates include those with degrees in Accounting Information Systems (AIS) or Management Information Systems (MIS).

The Finance Systems team in Carlsbad is a Global Center of Excellence within Thermo Fisher Scientific. High-performing candidates will be encouraged to rotate across all of the EPM applications. The team structure provides opportunity for upward mobility and managerial/director opportunities.

As a Business Analyst III, this role's responsibilities include:

  • Update financial data standards and mapping conventions in accordance with the unique reporting needs of various financial reporting teams

  • Extract financial data from various sources, validate data, document results, and present results to business partners

  • Develops adhoc reports and queries across multiple financial reporting systems in support of day-to-day business operations and monthly/quarterly financial reports

  • Interface with FP&A and Accounting colleagues to document requirements & evaluate solutions; coordinate with IT to implement enhancements

  • Develop and present training materials to colleagues in Finance & Accounting

  • Interface with IT colleagues to develop an understanding of the various Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems that generate financial data such as Oracle Enterprise One (JD Edwards) and SAP.

Basic (Minimum) Requirements

  • BS Degree from an accredited university in Finance, Accounting, Business, or MIS

  • 5 years minimum of related work experience

  • AIS/MIS working experience

  • Hyperion Essbase experience

  • ERP experience preferred
