Sr. Director, qPCR Product Management

Location: South San Francisco

Our Genetic Sciences Division based in South San Francisco is at the forefront of innovation for genetic analysis research and clinical applications. The qPCR Business Unit is a key platform within the division. The Sr. Director, qPCR Product Management, will lead the qPCR instrument team. Key responsibilities will include product strategy, product definition, new product introductions, training, support, and life cycle management

How will you make an impact?

This Sr. Director will operate as a General Manager for their portfolio by collaborating with all business functions to ensure their products meet and exceed our customers’ expectations.

What will you do?

  • As a Strategic Leader

  • Develops and executes upon a global technology and product road map for the life cycle of current and new products for all addressable markets

  • Collaboration (Leveraging Scale)

  • Works across key customers/KOLs and orchestrates our *matrixed organization to deliver solutions that meet their needs. Leverages the divisions scale which includes programs like Data Science and the Platform for Science for sustained growth.

  • Growth Driver (Commercial Acumen):

  • Works closely with the commercial team to defend, migrate and grow high margin, high market share business. Key to success will be consistent performance in the core, life sciences market, and increased participation in the health care market.

  • Commercial experience and Acumen – Experience selling capital equipment and consumables through a variety of channels

  • Execution Skills

  • Accountable leader with experience leading teams through obstacles and getting optimal return from market opportunities. Track record of delivering results in product management

  • People Leadership/Change Management

  • Builds a great team and great culture. Attracts, engages, develops, and retains top talent at all levels. Inspires, influences, and empowers employees across the matrix (both direct and indirect teams globally) to overachieve objectives. Decisive leader with ability to lead and empower teams

How will you get here?

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required preferably in sciences, businesses, economics or other related field. MBA, similar experience, or related advanced degree, desired.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Leadership experience leading, developing and building successful global strategic teams.

  • Demonstrated success working in a global matrixed-environment.

  • Strong customer/quality orientation with demonstrated ability to effectively build and manage customer and partner relationships

  • Proven track record of effectively driving organizational transformation through large scale change initiatives from a business and cultural standpoint

  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated ability to understand, analyze and assimilate complex issues, draw correct conclusions, prioritize and formulate clear strategy and initiatives

  • Ability to attract, recruit, develop and retain hi-potential talent

  • Demonstrates passion and enthusiasm for an organization’s vision, and motivates, leads, and empowers others to achieve organizational goals

  • Strong presence; capacity to influence and promote enthusiasm and support through verbal, written and presentation communications skills

  • Demonstrates courage - Be bold; don’t back off from challenges and stand up for what you believe in; take action; persevere & stay the course; dare to push forward

  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, both domestic and internationally, as required
