How will you make an impact?
The Sr. Manager, Market Development, Licensing & Commercial Supply for Genetic Sciences & Clinical Next Generation Sequencing Division (GSD/CSD) is responsible for developing new business, in partnership with a global field-based business development team, for genetic analysis business via out-licensing and supply of patented technologies and products to commercial users.
What will you do?
Develop strategies and deal structures for out-licensing and OEM supply of products ranging from instruments to consumables to software.
Collaborate with partners in other functions including legal, product management, R&D, manufacturing, finance and accounting.
Work in partnership with field based business development managers to identify, assess and develop leads based on technical fit, business risk and financial potential.
Develop business relationships with partners in a variety of markets including human molecular diagnostics, food and animal testing, and other commercial end markets.
Lead negotiations, after initial contact via field based business development team, through to the development of terms and agreement execution.
Maintain global deal funnel and forecast.
How will you get here?
M.S. in life science; MBA is a plus.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant licensing and business development experience, including identification & validation of strategic business opportunities in the life sciences field, as well as the proven track record of relevant completed business development transactions.
Strong leadership, business, technical and negotiating skills.
Familiarity with intellectual property and business practices.
Excellent written and oral communication skills; attention to detail; experience drafting term sheets and contract provisions.
Track record of successfully working with a variety of stake holders (internal and external) to resolve complex issues and create unique solutions.
Excellent relationship building skills internal and external.
Vision to identify licensing opportunities (by mining company IP and technology, market research and/or through direct interactions with prospective customers / licensees) plus analytical skills to assess risks and drive deal structure.
Sales or contract negotiation, alliance management and/or cross-functional team leadership experience.
Prior experience in human IVD market preferred.
Hands-on experience in molecular biology applications or biotechnology / scientific instrumentation preferred.
Prior experience in developing new markets preferred.
