How Will You Make an Impact?

The focus of the role is to continually assist in evaluating business requirements and transform them in to functional requirements and specifications for the Global Lab Systems for Thermo Fisher's Pharma Services Group (PSG) worldwide. These systems include but are not limited to tools and applications such as Chromatography Data Systems, LIMS, and Environmental Monitoring.

What will you do?

  • Work directly with the business to understand and prioritize business requirements and gather user and functional requirements.

  • Work with identified subject matter experts (SME’s) to develop solid understanding of processes and provide guidance on the application of business system technology to daily operations.

  • Work with development teams to prepare specifications and diagrams.

  • Prepare appropriate documents to assist in problem analysis and resolution.

  • Under limited supervision, performs work that is varied, challenging and involves substantial responsibility.

  • Will continue to gain knowledge of latest technology and business trends via attendance in outside seminars, defined training plans, and reviewing best practice literature and related materials.

  • In conjunction with Business Process Owners, SME’s, Quality Assurance, Validation and Training ensure overall application compliance as a GXP application.

  • Schedule and lead Application Design meetings as necessary.

How will you get there?

Education

Bachelor's degree is required. A degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a Life Science related degree is preferred

Experience

  • Experience with a full scale implementation of an IT systems including all phases such as blueprinting, gap analysis, system design, configuration, testing, training, and go-live support.

  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on technical understanding with Lab Systems, preferably LIMS is a plus

  • Skilled in writing functional / technical specifications with detailed explanation of completed design.

  • Experience in testing and supporting custom developments.

  • 3 to 5 years of business operational or support experience within a GMP organization preferred

  • Experience with computerized systems validation, GXP assessments, and/or change management.

  • High level of communication skills including exceptional presentation skills, and the ability to write complex documents that are concise and understood by multiple levels of the organization.

  • Ability to mentor junior staff, if needed.

  • Experience with Spanish or Italian considered a plus.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community
