How Will You Make an Impact?

In this key role, the Contract Manager will support the Pharma Services Group’s services by reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a variety of customer facing agreements, including Master Service Agreements (MSAs), amendments to supply and development agreements and ancillary documents. Will also review and assist in capturing proposals for services correctly within client agreements. Communication with internal and external customers will be a key part of this position.

What will you do?

  • Write, review, analyze, modify and negotiate a variety of complex commercial and development agreements and other contractual instruments with clients with the support of the groups contracting team.

  • Serve as the main liaison between the client and the sites Legal, Operations and Business Management groups during the negotiation phase of a project.

  • Manage and communicate all business issues related to the client’s commercial and development requirements.

  • Develop action plans for each client in order to optimize contract language to meet internal company objectives.

  • Negotiate contentious issues at multiple levels within the client’s organization and be able to interpret contract requirements, obligations and risk exposure.

  • Ensure that client contracts address items such as: forecasts for our 3-year planning model, annual pricing reviews, coverage for additional services, payment obligations, liability for defective products and recalls to include yield provisions, terms of contracts and renewals and a variety of other quality and legal needs to meet the sites requirements.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders, including Senior Leadership, as appropriate, in a continued effort to streamline contract related processes as well as integrate templates across Business Units and functions to improve turnaround times to an increasing client base.

  • Provide direction and guidance related to the contracting process.

  • Provide input to the development, maintenance, and management of contracting policies and procedures.

  • Coordinate processes to track contract flow, renewal and termination dates.

  • Maintain database of current and terminated contracts within the contract management system.

  • Initiate and/or lead the development of innovative approaches to contracting requirements, obligations and exposures.

  • Ensure conformity to business needs, proper risk allocation and compliance with the policies and procedures of Pharma Services Group Services.

  • Support the global contracting process and technology strategy as defined by the Business Units . and Pharma Services Group

  • Facilitate internal contract approval and stakeholder negotiation to resolve complex issues and assist in disputes (escalating complex legal and factual issues to the appropriate internal parties).Communicate with business units ensuring all obligations are being met (e.g., milestones, deliverables, invoicing etc.).

  • Utilize the contract management system to track and report contractual obligations.

  • Educate business partners on key commercial, legal, corporate policy and other considerations by providing follow up information to clients and senior management to ensure timely performance and adherence to terms of contracts.

  • Prepare contract summaries to assure proper interpretation of contracts.

  • Verify compliance with applicable laws and internal policies and procedures.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Science, Business or a related field.

Experience

  • 5-7 years of demonstrated commercial contract management and negotiation experience or business management experience in the pharmaceutical and/or Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO)

  • Broad knowledge of applicable contractual and legal concepts involved in the CMO industry.

  • Superior client service orientation, interpersonal skills and business perspective.

  • Demonstrated project management experience in a fast paced environment.

  • Ability to function independently and as part of a team

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office Applications ( Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Share point)
