How will you make an impact?
The Systems Engineer is a strategic partner in operations with responsibility for leading and implementing automation and engineering strategy to achieve required business results globally. The position is directly responsible for identifying and implementing all automation supporting safety, quality, and productivity. This position performs as liaison and relationship builder to internal customers to create value across the organization that focuses on improving the external customer experience to drive customer allegiance. The Systems Engineer provides leadership guidance that enables Global Distribution to achieve customer focused and financial goals. The Automation Systems Engineer applies the scientific and mathematical principles of engineering to the process of distributing consumer goods and services in order to build a more efficient infrastructure.
What will you do?
Automation Systems Engineers are in charge of designing and analyzing the systems employed in distributing those goods and services. They evaluate all aspects of methods of distribution (supply chain) with the ultimate goal of improving efficiency, thus generating higher profits for their employers.
Automation Systems Engineers must have a basic familiarity with Distribution and Logistics practices, as the relationship between supplier, Distribution and customer is paramount to the industry.
(Technical) Innovation of Distribution Infrastructure and Processes
IT understanding on how automation interacts with MRP systems
Experience in delivering IT solutions following innovation opportunities
Development of Distribution Infrastructure and Processes
(Technical) Engineering Expertise for Global Distribution & Logistics Analysis, Projects, and Operations
Interpret market development into strategic Business plans and practices
Prepare Logistics strategies or conceptual designs for Distribution facilities Global
Develop and maintain Cost Estimates, Forecasts and Cost Models
Working knowledge of conveyors, vertical lifts, and automated storage and retrieval systems.
Performs all job duties in a safe manner and obeys all safety policies and procedures.
Performs all job duties consistent with the Code of Ethics and the 4-I Values.
Performs all job duties within ISO standards, regulatory or statutory requirements.
Performs other duties and responsibilities, as needed.
How will you get here?
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred. High school education with equivalent applicable work experience may be substituted.
- Five plus years working with automation in a warehouse or a similar environment.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Strong leadership and decision-making ability.
Knowledge, experience or training in Lean techniques and proficient in process auditing.
Possess technical engineering aptitude to understand advanced level of product line knowledge.
Possess a continuous process improvement mindset with the ability to effectively lead and manage change.
Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office.
Ability to travel as required, <30% of the time.
Working conditions require the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, and work at a computer station and on manufacturing shop floor.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
