This position is responsible for managing the planning, organizing, staffing, controlling and direction of Engineering groups and programs. Ensuring plans and decisions are made and coordinated so as not to adversely impact systems, equipment and processes causing major breakdowns or failures. Ensuring compliance with state, federal, and local regulatory agency codes and adherence to company rules and regulations.
This position manages an automation organization to provide automation services in support to production, laboratory and facility organizations.
Allocate and manage resources (people, budgets, and equipment) in support of unit, site and company objectives. Provide guidance to staff in technical and non-technical issues. Evaluate need for outside contractor backup. Take action to transfer employees from one area to another when need arises. Assign shift work as required. Requisition additional help if needed. Develop performance plans and conduct appraisal reviews for all supervisors, quarterly and annually. Develop and monitor individual objectives for each subordinate.
Develop strategies and plans for providing overall direction to assigned engineering programs and systems in compliance with SOP’s, GAP’s, cGMP’s and other. Assign specific projects to supervisors and monitor progress.
Ensure resources are scheduled and deployed so that assigned projects are completed on schedule by overseeing activities.
Maintain all areas of responsibility in a safe, clean, and orderly condition. Ensure staff performs work in compliance with procedures and with the required safety equipment. Support Engineering Safety Committee. Assess customer satisfaction levels.
Develop capital and expense budgets for own cost center. Monitor and control on a continual basis the expenditures for each budget. Recommend capital and expense items for landlord capital and expense budgets. Monitors and controls Landlord and contract service budgets.
Manage the automation integrity program to ensure equipment is registered, failures identified and root cause analysis is performed.
Assesses needs and develops strategies and goals for engineering automation organization.
Make decisions and sets allocations for headcount, budgets, and equipment in support of company objectives.
BS degree in Engineering or other physical science plus 6 years experience working in a regulated industry in a production environment OR AA/AS in related technical discipline, plus 7 years of directly related diversified maintenance/engineering experience.
3 years of supervisory experience working in a regulated industry in a production or manufacturing environment.
Diversified knowledge of maintenance/engineering specialties including mechanical, electrical, chemical, and civil. A focus in Automation Systems is preferred.
Willing to respond to all types of emergencies and spend overtime hours in monitoring scheduled work.

Knowledge of general accounting principles and the ability to develop and deploy capital and expense budgets.
Knowledgeable of cGMP’s as related to utility systems, buildings, and facilities.
