High Point, NC

How will you make an impact?

Under general supervision, repairs and maintains machinery and equipment such as motors, pneumatic equipment, conveyor systems and production machines. Specializes in electrical and controls automation systems.

Schedule will be 7p – 7a on either the C or D night shifts.

What will you do?

  • Install and maintain utilities systems and components for electricity, e.g. power distribution, instrumentation and control, electrical machinery, codes and standards.

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance practices and record all data on appropriate logging medium.

  • Observe mechanical equipment in operation and follow good troubleshooting practices to locate causes of trouble. Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements. Adjust functional parts of equipment and control instrumentation. Install or replace worn or faulty components for equipment performance restoration or improvement. Test equipment performance and record all data on appropriate logging medium.

  • Assist in the installation and maintenance of utilities systems and equipment components for electrical power distribution, instrumentation and controls, electrical machinery, responsible for knowledge of codes and standards.

  • Document daily readings, equipment repairs and parts used. Report problems on work order forms.

  • Follow quality standards in accordance with company policy and FDA requirements.

  • Perform daily responsibilities with urgency and a high level of accountability.

  • Demonstrate creativity and diligence in meeting daily and long term projects and performance objectives.

  • May perform other reasonable, related business duties.

  • Initiate purchase orders for parts and machines.

  • Assist in training new mechanics.

  • May perform other reasonable, related business duties.

How will you get here?

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent minimally required.

Experience

  • 4 years of related experience and/or training, which includes experience or training in two or more of the following trades: painting, plumbing, electrical, machine shop, carpentry or electronics/controls.

  • Allen Bradley PLC experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Ability to use hand and machine shop tools. Ability to train others by technical means and by example.

  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Able to recognize problems developing, not just occurring

The employee must regularly lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Close vision is required.

Work Environment:

The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level can range from quiet to loud.
