Position Summary:

This position is responsible for coordinating financial planning and analysis activities across the Materials & Structural Analysis Division (MSD). MSD is a global $1+ billion division within Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc. with multiple instruments, service and consumable product offerings

Based at MSD’s headquarters in Hillsboro, OR, this position will collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams to execute robust growth strategies and integration plans. This position will work closely with the MSD Leadership Team, including business unit finance and general managers on a daily basis.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and preparation of annual strategic plan, annual budget, monthly forecasts, and monthly results analyses

  • Build and maintain the monthly financial reporting and analysis package

  • Provide reports, analysis, and commentary on the business units’ adherence to AOP and forecasting on all responsible line items (e.g. Organic Growth, Bookings, Revenue, and expense spending), ensuring alignment with CMR reporting

  • Assist with completion of the month end consolidation activities and ensure compliance with Corporate timelines and expectations

  • Provide training and support to the MSD Finance team on Hyperion Financial Management tools, developing and maintaining efficient load templates and operating as a power user

  • Act as the key contact person for MSD sites finance teams; collecting, consolidating, analyzing and presenting data on a timely basis

  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization in reporting within the business units. Aid the development and understanding of key business unit operating metrics (price realization, volume performance, R&D spending, Marketing spending, etc.) and report performance to the established metrics

  • Support finance integration activities and synergy tracking

  • Perform special projects and ad-hoc financial reporting as required

Job Requirements:

  • Strong skills in Hyperion Financial Management, including upload templates, consolidations, financial close procedures, Smart View and ad-hoc

  • Advanced Excel required, system proficiency in EPM and MS Access preferred

  • Organized, detail oriented with ability to maintain accuracy of information and meet deadline with little supervision

  • Excellent organizational skills as well as effective verbal and written communication abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 2+ years of related experience
