Job Description

What will you do?

  • Responsible for tracking all waste areas.

  • Ensures correct labeling of materials and drums.

  • Ensures all containers are transferred to the appropriate storage areas on a daily basis to meet EPA RCRA requirements.

  • Works with the EHS manager to properly identify all waste streams and the appropriate disposal facilities are used in accordance with corporate guidelines.

  • Conducts weekly inspections of the satellite and storage areas to ensure compliance to EPA RCRA requirements.

  • Reviews and signs all scrap tickets in a timely manner.

  • Works with the EHS Manager to ensure all Waste Minimization measures are followed. Provide routine updates on recycling and cost avoidance measures implemented.

  • Maintain and improve inventory accuracy; this position requires the incumbent to have a thorough understanding of the majority of the Inventory Control processes.

  • The incumbent must be able to perform multiple functions or processes within the team, both in terms of warehousing processes and waste handling.

  • Assists in troubleshooting and problem solving as directed.

  • The incumbent must be trained and be able to perform in the following processes:

  • May be required to generate dangerous goods, restricted and non-restricted articles paperwork on hazardous and non-hazardous materials per SOP; verify that records are complete and accurate.

  • Scrap process (Middletown process) including Waste management.

  • Learn and have a good understanding of SAP. This will include setting up profiles for new products and material in SAP to be reviewed by the EHS Manager.

  • Packs waste for shipments / disposal

  • Maintains proper storage of hazardous waste kept in the Hazard Room and satellite areas.

  • Operates mechanical equipment (tow motor, walking riders) in a safe manner in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintains equipment and storage areas as prescribed in a neat and clean manner to meet housekeeping standards.

  • Maintain waste packaging supplies and drum inventories

  • Maintains clean working environment to ensure that warehouse is kept in good order.

  • Ensures that analysis is performed on waste on a set schedule to ensure compliance. This will include pulling representative samples and collating the returned test results.

  • May perform training sessions as needed.

  • Conduct and participate in accident investigations.

  • Tracks and assists with closing out Hazard IDs.

  • Assists EHS Manager with Environmental reporting.

  • Performs all duties in a safe manner and complies with all corporate and government guidelines (SOP, GMP procedures, etc.).

  • Performs miscellaneous duties as required.

How will you get there?

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 3-5 years previous experience in pick/pack/ship and tow motor operations is required.

  • Previous tow motor certification is preferred.

  • Must be capable of being DOT and RCRA certified within in six months of start date.

  • Exposure to hazardous materials requires knowledge of proper protection, handling and storage techniques

  • Prior experience with hazardous and non-hazardous wastes

  • CRASH (Classification of Road, Air, & Sea Hazards) required within one year of start date

  • Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Employee to employ traditional lifting techniques for materials up to 75 lbs. Items over 75 pounds will require the employee to use non-traditional techniques including, push-pull method, automated lifts and other equipment or additional techniques. Employee will be trained in these techniques upon employment. Employees already in position will require one time training.

  • Good math skills for verifying receipts and maintaining accurate inventory

  • Ability to safely operate and maintain material movement equipment

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to effectively interact at all levels within the facility

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

  • Flexibility to work overtime as required
