The Manufacturing Engineer is part of the Field Security and Instrumentation (FSI) Business Unit affiliated with the Chemical Analysis Division (CAD). FSI unites deep scientific expertise, a collaborative culture and rich resources to deliver the radiation measurement equipment and systems that our customers need to achieve their goals – quickly, reliably and safely. The position will reside in Oakwood Village, OH.

How will you make an impact?

The candidate will support the design and manufacturing of radiation measurement equipment with specific responsibilities on existing electrical & mechanical components, electrical & mechanical subsystems and product testing as well as be accountable to manage projects.

What will you do?

  • Interact with all areas and levels of the company to bring a positive result in product development, production launches, optimizing existing products, using a multi-disciplinary approach to problem solving, and works to motivate team members toward the common goal.

  • Work alongside other manufacturing engineering team members and with other cross-functional groups to develop electrical and mechanical systems and identify/implement projects for design optimization of the company’s radiation monitoring equipment.

  • Work with internal project teams which consist of quality, regulatory, R&D, operations, supplier/sourcing, manufacturing, marketing, and sales.

  • Investigate and analyze customer service problems and design improvement suggestions.

  • Suggest design improvements based on recent technical knowledge.

  • Effectively run projects, coordinate contractors, and direct the activities of a technician with guidance from supervision or other senior staff members.

  • Document project progress and track future product development milestones & tasks.

  • Lead Continuous Improvement initiatives and support all PPI, Keys and Lean projects.

How will you get here?

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing or Materials Science or related field.

Experience:

  • 1+ years of experience in a technical manufacturing environment

  • Experience with transitioning new products into production.

  • Experience with regulated environment, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Competency in AutoCAD or similar software.

  • Knowledge of design process and analysis techniques such as FEA, FMEA, Risk Analysis and/or Tolerance Analysis.

  • High level of self-discipline, drive, and a proven ability to lead a cross – functional team

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time and utilize CRT to perform job functions.

  • Ability to sit and talk with suppliers on the telephone or in person for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • 5% travel may be required.
