How will you make an impact?

The Sr. Product Manager leads the global product strategy for the exciting new Rapid DNA portfolio within the Human Identification (HID) Business Unit in the Genetic Sciences Division (GSD) of Thermo Fisher Scientific. The Sr. Product Manager is responsible for driving and executing the product roadmap for rapid DNA systems, consumables and software and creating value-added growth for the human identification business. A critical aspect of the role will be to develop differentiated products for existing forensic DNA casework and databasing market segments and to establish and grow the product line in the nascent law enforcement and security segments. The Sr. Product Manager will manage the life-cycle of a portfolio of new and on-market products for while acting as the liaison between Sales, Market Development, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Technical/Customer Support and Supply Chain. The Sr. Product Manager is responsible for developing the Rapid DNA portfolio from concept to commercialization including market analysis, product definition, positioning and pricing.

What will you do?

  • Develop and implement business strategy for the Rapid DNA portfolio of instruments, consumables and software

  • Develop concepts to expand and grow the product line with consideration for compatible products and service bundling opportunities

  • Create, manage, and monitor business plans and product roadmaps for new and existing products

  • Develop a thorough knowledge of forensic, law enforcement and security customer segments, conduct market research, and assess the competitive landscape

  • Understand customer needs, perform voice of customer (VOC), and define product requirements with corresponding business or financial justification

  • Understand, follow and be accountable for business aspects of the Product Commercialization Process (PCP) for new products

  • Develop the global go-to-market strategy for new products including product positioning and pricing for the target segments

  • Work closely with market development to develop messaging, promote visibility and ensure a high rate of market adoption

  • Interface with the service and support teams to ensure seamless implementation and a world class customer experience

  • Manage total product lifecycle, setting organizational cadence for retirement, refresh or enhancement of existing products

  • Develop pricing strategy to meet revenue and profitability goals

  • Analyze, interpret and report out market and channel trends and product sales activities to senior management or other business partners

  • Interface with external Key Opinion Leaders to maximize the understanding of applications, opportunities and demands for defined products within the rapid DNA space

How will you get here?

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in scientific discipline

  • MBA or PhD preferred

  • Knowledge of instrument and software product development in the life sciences segment
