Job Title : Field Application Scientist, Trace Elemental Analysis

This opening is for an experienced and self-motivated individual to support Trace Elemental Analysis products within our Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry (CMD) Division. As a member of the Thermo Fisher Scientific North America Center of Excellence, you will work within a multi-disciplinary matrix team that includes regional sales representatives, marketing and service professionals, product development scientists, and engineers. The support will be at customer sites (within North America) and focus on rapidly jump-starting customers for future success.

What will you do?

  • Deliver high quality customer training and applications support at the Training Institute locations or at the customer’s site while achieving high customer satisfaction.

  • Always ensure highest professional relationships with our customer base to achieve customer loyalty and escalates issues if necessary to solve critical tasks in the fastest way possible.

  • Optimize your work schedule by coordinating Institute scheduled training courses with other Institute activities such as customer technical and application support.

  • Assist in the preparation of course content and objectives, prepares syllabus, lesson plans, student manuals, and development of training aids.

  • Prepares and presents scientific posters and papers at exhibitions and symposia. Participates in tradeshows aiming to promote Thermo Fisher Scientific and Training in general.

  • Provide rapid and professional response to internal and external customer queries using knowledge of the techniques in question.

How will you get there?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Science related field.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years hands on experience with BS degree, 2-4 years of hands on experience with MS degree and 1 year hands on experience with PhD.

  • Extensive operations experience with AA (atomic absorption) and ICP-OES instruments (Thermo instrumentation would be a plus).

  • Deep working knowledge of the hardware, software and application details of elemental applications.

  • This position requires extensive contact with customers and therefore outstanding written and oral communication skills are required.

  • A proven track record of analytical and problem solving skills must be demonstrated.

  • The ability to work independently with little supervision and a strong work ethic is critical.

  • Ability to travel 80-90% throughout North America will be required.
