Manufacturing and Reliability Engineer – This is an expansive role within the business, with a high degree of working autonomy. Taking responsibility for the advancing our stewardship of our existing equipment as well as developing new methods of working within the business. This will include asset management, use of TPM and or RCM, the integration of technology into existing processes and assistance in the development of new processes. The profile of the role also includes taking a leading position for coordinated Global Advancement Effort within the BioServices Business, this incorporates a very close partnership with LPD.
This is an opportunity to join a very dynamic team and lead an engineering effort that will help to reshape the BioServices business. Taking direct responsibility for implementing engineering improvement, this role will interface closely with the Quality, Engineering, and Operations teams and will have direct assignment activity from the Global Operations Director, as well as direct input from Directors of Quality and Operations.
This opportunity will develop the successful applicant in several areas, notably; a solid understanding of applied six sigma skills (with the opportunity to develop Blackbelt capability and for which accreditation could be sought), greater understanding of matrix management and accountability for delivering complex programs using both internal and external resources, coaching will also be given for direct line management responsibility (if this is something that is sought) for potential preparation into the next role. The role will also have good exposure to senior members of the organization and will include an assignment that will require cross divisional coordination.
The Engineering role will drive; Reliability and Asset Management including responsibility for the reliability and effectiveness of our cryogenic and deep freeze storage solutions. In carrying out this role the position will take ownership of the Overall equipment effectiveness, analysis of failure modes, corrective actions associated with improving longevity and uptime of the equipment. The position will also direct work teams for the improvement of our operational execution. The role will desing and redesign processes and procedures for the management of our existing assets and for the introduction of new business processes. The position requires utilization of both technical knowledge and lean concepts to drive overall success of these activities ensuring that the business meet all safety, regulatory, quality, and operational requirements expected of a world class organization.
To assist in the development of new processes and procedures
To advise and implement the introduction of new technologies for operations
Represent a knowledge partner within the business for engineering
Improve our system of work that maintains the fleet of 2000+ refrigeration systems (+4 C to -195 C).
Direct the maintenance of the reliability of the fleet, including the maintenance of the Asset Management System (Maximo software), with hands on approach where required.
Coordination of technical communication with LPD and other equipment suppliers
To be a global conduit within the business for advancing the use of technology and PPI thinking, from an engineering perspective.
Measure and effectively manage the reliability of the fleet to effective failure mode analysis and Root cause corrective actions.
Work effectively within a world class Quality system and framework.
Provide technical ownership of the Standard Work instructions (SWIs) for maintenance and the Implementation of maintenance of the fleet.
Work effectively to develop a front line maintenance team to implement TPM/ RCM activity.
Improve the effective interaction of our operations staff and their interaction with the fleet.
Direct the operational management of the validation and requalification process for all refrigeration, frozen storage needs, within the established timeframe.
Maintain the backup (redundant capacity) requirements for each of the sites.
Maintain an understanding of alternative refrigeration technologies.
Develop the DFMEA, ability to predict the failure modes. Develop & draft Engineering test procedure (ETP) to validate the new failure modes identified.
Provide leadership, supervision and coordination for operational activities related to existing equipment
Development of the role – to become an active developer of new idea and technologies is also anticipated.
