Location/Division Specific Information

This position will be located at our facility in Rockwood, TN and is part of our Chromatography Consumables business. Our chromatography consumables are applicable in a wide-range of markets offering solutions for our pharmaceutical, food and beverage, forensic and toxicology, proteomics, clinical, and environmental customers.

How will you make an impact?

This position is responsible for planning and executing assigned purchasing related activities to procure raw materials & finished goods in a fast paced, team based environment. Support the Procurement Manager as necessary to deliver year-over-year cost savings, and works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.

What will you do?

  • Plan and execute procurement of finished goods and raw materials from global contract manufacturers, OEMs and internal and external suppliers.

  • Implement and coordinate best practice inventory planning and replenishment of raw materials, components and finished goods.

  • Participate in all aspects of supply chain management as necessary to maintain a reliable and cost competitive source of supply for the business unit.

  • Establish processes and leverage systems to efficiently plan & procure in a growth oriented environment.

  • Proactively report product and material availability issues & provides supply status and shipment tracking to Customer Service & Operations teams.

  • Create purchase orders and maintain purchase order status and shipment tracking information in ERP system.

  • Manage tracking of purchased goods and specific lot requests.

  • Maintain accurate lead times from suppliers in the ERP system.

  • Expedite purchase orders to meet expected delivery times or require earlier delivery due to business needs.

  • Handle requests for information, quotations, proposals, and bidding processes.

  • Aid in the addition of new suppliers, including those in Low Cost Regions, as well as desourcing suppliers.

  • Establish and maintain rapport with all levels of supplier personnel and internal customers.

  • Execute contract negotiation and development in coordination with Procurement Manager.

  • Document performance to action plans and timelines for assigned projects.

  • Inventory Management: DOS reporting, inventory parameters, reduction percentage measurements, Product Life Cycle management; measure related KBM’s

  • Support new product introductions, product discontinuations and re-sourcing activities.

  • Purchasing management: PR to PO execution, vendor compliance, reduction of cycle process time and strengthening vendor relationships.

  • Participates and contributes to monthly SIOP (Sales Inventory & Operations Planning) process.

  • Completes special projects and assignments as requested.

Bachelor’s degree with studies in Business, Operations, Supply Chain or related field


  • 5+ years of experience in materials planning and purchasing

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, Word

  • ERP experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain concepts and application

  • Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills and ability to multitask

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (oral & written)

  • Self-starter with ability to work independently under pressure and react quickly to changing priorities.
