The Manufacturing Engineer II – Manufacturing Engineer provides support to Manufacturing through process improvements, driving to root-cause on process, resolving product and component issues, and assists with standardizing assembly processes, tools and assembly aids. The Neutron Flux Monitoring Systems business provides design to order equipment that supports Nuclear Power Plants and research reactors globally. Our production environment primarily focuses on PCBAs, high-level integrated assemblies (box builds) and neutron flux detectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages projects related to productivity/quality improvements, cell lay-out, and other large-scale process improvements in order to achieve quarterly/annual quality and productivity metrics

  • Provides technical direction to assemblers/technicians and suppliers

  • Works with the Quality and Design Engineering team to identify and implement opportunities for improving yields and reducing waste within the value stream including DFM/DFT

  • Manage and implement systems that control and monitor traditional metrics (defects per unit, cycle time, quality, etc.) and recommend applicable and/or process specific metrics to better understand process capabilities

  • Uses Lean tools such as 5s, value stream mapping, and poka-yoke.

  • Participates in and/or leads Kaizen activities.

  • Creates and maintains work instructions, standard work, assembly/test fixtures and other job aids

  • Documents processes and provides training as necessary

  • This position requires a high degree of interaction with management and employees of all levels within the organization.

  • Individuals must regularly interact with Design Engineering, Sales, Materials and Service personnel.

How will you get there?

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution

  • 1-3 years experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or similar role

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills.

  • Expert with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio)

  • Experience with Lean manufacturing concepts and practices

  • General understanding of ERP systems (MAPICS, SAP)

  • Familiarity with ESD and electronics best practices

  • Experience with automated testing a plus
