Position Summary:

Provides dedicated service at customer’s facility which may include inventory management, order entry, order management, stockroom services for customer owned inventory at multiple locations, material handling, glasswashing, chemical inventory, and shipping and receiving. Possesses the ability to accept increased levels of responsibility which include operating customer systems, Thermo Fisher Scientific mainframe systems and execute 3rd party and agent buys. Serves as a liaison between Thermo Fisher and the customer. Establishes and fosters positive customer relationships. The tools employed would include various scanners and desktop computers, pallet jacks and push carts. Customer interface communication skills are also required.

Essential Functions

  • Follow all defined procedures as outlined by Best Practices, SOP’s & work instructions. Take direction from Area Supervisor and / or Regional Manager regarding daily duties.

  • Makes decisions based off of instructions provided and / or site work instructions

  • Independently makes decisions and utilizes available resources to meet customer requirements, which includes proficiency in Fisher Scientific mainframe systems, Fisher Scientific procedures, customer procedures, stockroom and material handling, depending on location

  • Access & utilize Thermo Fisher Scientifics’ Intranet and SharePoint document management system.

  • Utilizes advanced systems or performs the functions stated below:

  • Operates multiple proprietary systems which could include Fisher Scientific Requisition & Inventory Management System (RIMS), Fisher Scientific Internet, and Mainframe

  • Operates SAP, eScout, PeopleSoft, Arriba and other customer systems

  • Executes 3rd party buys

  • Executes Agent buys

  • Makes on-site program replenishments and disbursements. Performs stockroom duties to include receiving, put-away, stock rotation, cycle counts and other functions according to Unity Lab Services and customer requirements.

  • Removes cardboard and trash as needed (Detrashing).

  • Delivers direct shipment orders to end users.

  • Works effectively with a diverse cross-functional team.

  • Embraces Practical Process Improvement (PPI) methodologies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned, including product returns as needed.

  • Displays a high level of confidentiality for both the customer and Thermo Fisher.

  • Analyzes/maintains/reconciles various customer, Fisher and ULS reports to ensure customer and Fisher requirements are met.

  • Communicates with direct supervisor any customer issues or potential problems

  • Promotes personal growth and development by staying abreast of new policies and enhancements without the presence of site trainer and management team.

  • Listens to customer concerns, effectively diffuses dissatisfaction, and quickly identifies course of action with a goal of first call resolution within established turnaround times.

  • Attend required training sessions as needed (travel included).

  • Produce metrics, complete inventory cycle counts and participate in inventory planning.

  • Participates in projects and performs other duties as assigned.

  • Sourcing and cross referencing

  • Ensures proper handling, storage, rotation and issuance of inventoried products

  • Data input, document control, filing and records maintenance

  • Conducts cycle counting and physical inventory

  • Works with AP to resolve open invoices/pricing issues

  • Works back order reports

  • Designs and maintains basic key performance indicators

  • Assists with the training of new associates

  • Interacts with management, customer, vendors and service partners on continuous improvement projects and problem resolution

  • Provide quotes

  • Responsible for using customer’s ERP systems

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required. BS/BA degree preferred

  • 3-5 years customer service experience a must

  • 3-5 years inventory and shipping/receiving experience a must

  • Previous experience working within a laboratory environment a plus

  • Intermediate level with Microsoft Office suites

  • Good communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)

  • Ability to develop and document processes

  • Ability to understand site protocols, policies, and procedures

  • Able perform multiple job functions

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to display critical thinking

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
