What will you do?
Work under the supervision of a Senior Engineer, to define, design, test, and document parts and sub-systems.
Support sustaining engineering projects to achieve improvements in quality, cost, and replacing components at end of life.
Assist Senior Engineers to produce Product Development File documents including all Specification Documents and Planning documents.
Use 3D CAD (CREO) to perform mechanical design, modeling, and detailing of parts, assemblies, and drawings.
Compile and analyze operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment or product. Supports development of test plans.
Mechanical or electro-mechanical designing, modeling, and detailing of parts and assemblies. Providing all documentation for manufacturing of design.
Coordinate with support personnel in ordering parts and assembling breadboards (sometimes foam-core), prototypes.
Assist with debugging and testing the assemblies and products to ensure performance, quality, reliability, and meeting cost targets.
Perform mechanical engineering analysis of part and system concepts to determine feasibility and theoretical performance related to expected specifications.
Write and release Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for engineering drawings and Bills of Material (BOMs).
Assist in the transferring of products to Manufacturing. Supporting Manufacturing Engineering with process and tooling development.
How will you get here?
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent, with 2+ years related work experience
Experience using 3D CAD software (CREO/Windchill/SolidWorks)
Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA). CREO Simulate is a plus
Knowledge of ANSI drafting standards and GD&T
Excellent communication skills. Must be able to clearly communicate technical content to peers and management, support conclusions and recommendations with calculations, test data, industry literature, etc.
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to understand system interfaces and be able to quickly analyze, troubleshoot, and determine root cause of issues
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or equivalent, with limited work experience
Knowledge of a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system
Experience performing ECOs and creating/updating BOMs. SAP and Oracle is a plus
Experience with fluidic devices (e.g. pumps, transducers, tubing, fittings) in the medical device or scientific instrument industry
Experience designing electro-mechanical devices
Knowledge of applied materials science
Knowledge of manufacturing thermoplastic components, (machined and injection molded), including PEEK, PTFE, UHMW, and others
Knowledge of manufacturing sheet metal
Experience developing under ISO 9001 quality management systems
Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). FloEFD is a plus
Proficiency using common machine shop power tools (e.g. mill, lathe, drill-press)
