What will you do?

As part of the ERP Leadership Team, the ERP Architect, SAP has responsibility for the delivery of an operational, high performing ERP platform that is designed to meet business operations requirements and defining the roadmap and strategy for ERP that aligns with our enterprise vision and goals.

More specifically, the ERP Architect, SAP will lead, with their ERP architect colleagues and ERP leadership, the development, maintenance and implementation of the ERP strategy and roadmap and ensure we are leveraging technologies and platforms aligned with meeting our enterprise goals. This role will specifically focus on ensuring that our SAP platforms are represented effectively on the overall ERP architectural function.

  • Work closely with our Business IT and Business teams to understand the business operations roadmaps, operational challenges and requirements supported by our ERP/SAP systems

  • Build SAP platform and process roadmaps and designs to meet those needs

  • Working with ERP leadership and ERP architect colleagues, develop and maintain an ERP strategy and roadmap that is coordinated with the broader IT ecosystem roadmaps, aligned to our Digital transformation goals and general Business requirements and roadmaps

  • Proactively working with partners and vendors to evaluate new SAP technologies and capabilities in the QTC, P2P, Supply Chain domain to determine if there is enough business value and alignment with our roadmap to warrant investment

  • Meeting with our Business IT and Business colleagues to prepare and provide demonstrations of existing and new SAP capability in the QTC, P2P, Supply Chain domain

  • Global owner of the SAP platform/product design and roadmap

  • Working with their ERP architect colleagues to ensure that we are standardizing on single, modern platforms where this is feasible and makes sense for our business

  • Provide a second set of eyes on project blueprints and major design decisions to ensure we’re developing solutions aligned to our enterprise ERP roadmap, from an SAP perspective

  • Ensure we’re deriving maximum value from the enterprise SAP platforms available to us

  • Stay up to speed with ERP/SAP domain trends and ensure our Thermo Fisher roadmap is aligned with where the industries are going

  • Communicate our roadmap out regularly to our IT leadership and executive stakeholders

  • Working with the ERP Project/Demand leader in ensuring we’re aligned on SAP roadmaps and how we are delivering to those roadmaps

  • Works closely with ERP Functional Delivery, Technical Delivery and Project/Demand Leaders to ensure being proactive in identifying business benefit opportunities

  • Contribute to the realization of productivity opportunities through the use of our PPI business system and automation tools and best practices

  • Develop productive and positive working relationships with all key Business and IT stakeholders globally

  • Effectively and meaningfully influence discussions and roadmaps with our ETO, IT and Business colleagues

  • Develop and maintain effective working partnerships with external influencers and groups in the SAP space

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with both Business and IT stakeholders across all levels of the organization and translate Business speak to IT speak and vice versa

  • Ensure that all SAP solutions follow security, compliance controls, and conformance to firm’s IT security standard

  • Manage the end-to-end product lifecycle of SAP systems and capabilities in the ERP ecosystem

  • Working with their ERP Architect colleagues, ensure our ERP system blueprints are being maintained and kept up to date

How will you get here?

  • Ten years of professional IT experience

  • Five years of experience working in depth with SAP systems and processes

  • SAP S/4HANA experience is a must

  • Experience in strategy, roadmap and design development and maintenance

  • Experience with JDE desirable

  • Experience with on premise, cloud hosted and SaaS/PaaS applications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or other technical field is desired. 5 years of additional direct and applicable professional experience in the IT field may be substituted.

  • Strong interpersonal and excellent documentation skills are a must

  • Ability to translate the technical to a Business audience and vice versa

  • Executive presence and influencing skills a must

  • Ability to problem solve and work well in complex, ambiguous situations

  • Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements

  • A proven track record of thought leadership and driving significant change to deliver new business capabilities and productivity

  • Good business and finance acumen and experience

  • Operate consistently with a sense of urgency and a ‘can-do’ attitude

  • Able to question the status quo and conventional thinking and help our colleagues see the benefit in alternative approaches
