Thermo Fisher Scientific Senior Financial Analyst in Waltham, Massachusetts

Job Description

Responsibilities :

  • Help create company-wide financial analysis for use by Thermo Fisher’s executive team, internal customers and external stakeholders including the Board of Directors and Investor Relations

  • Own and drive analytics processes – such as EBITA analysis, Free Cash Flow, Product Vitality, Working Capital, CapEx, synergy tracking and Corporate expenses – by collaborating with the company’s divisions and functions to compile, analyze, report and forecast KPIs

  • Present actionable results of analysis and recommended forecasted values to company executives with accuracy, poise and succinctness

  • Identify, prioritize and drive process improvements to increase effectiveness, improve quality and enhance efficiency during quarter end and forecasting periods

  • Serve as a core member of the team responsible for quarterly earnings call prep, Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and quarterly forecasting processes

  • Lead and / or participate in cross-functional teams to help resolve business problems

  • Support the success of the FP&A team by serving as a resource to cross-check others’ work and collaborate with peers

  • Leverage financial and business acumen to participate acquisition integration and other projects

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications :

  • Passionate and intellectually curious

  • Dedication to, and interest in working with business partners and stakeholders to identify and resolve business issues beyond simply reporting financials

  • Reporting and analysis experience including summarizing key themes, drivers and forecasting

  • Proven ability to prioritize and self-direct workload, influence others and manage time

  • Participation in cross-functional teams including identifying and driving process improvement

  • Self-motivated with high bias for action, accountability and critical thinking

  • Comfort presenting to a variety of audiences and a realistic assessment of capabilities

  • Willingness to “deep dive” where needed to assure work product excellence

  • Modeling skills including maintaining / enhancing existing models and building new ones

  • Commitment to continuous learning, demonstrates a desire to develop self and others

  • Seeks opportunities to stretch capabilities

  • Experience in a matrix or complex environment and publically traded organizations preferred

  • Life Science experience preferred but not required

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred

Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, Accounting or other relevant degree

  • Strong written communication ability paired with clear and concise verbal presentation skills

  • Excellent skills with Excel and experience with Hyperion (ESSBase, planning) or BI tools

  • 5-7 years’ work experience
